学术性-A

我每天下班后1小时写thesis,时间跨度3个月,搞的象个xx,so next it's your turn,baby!!!

A Moving Speech from Rach

I never plan to re-open my space after I started my graduate school in that summer. But here is a speech about friendship between Rach and me, which I am deeply touched after reading it. It helps me recall many memories during school and reminds me that there's still an everlasting friendship from that remote country.  It is weird that the speech about friendship can be the presentation subject in a US MBA business school. Anyways, here is the speech:

Good evening, Jessica, family members, my dearest friends, first of all, let me thank you all for coming for this special day of Jessica’s graduation for her master degree of International Economics. As you may or may not know, I was Jessica’s roommate for four years during our undergraduate period and we have been so close that some of you might doubt my tendency in some area, which I don’t have that tendency in that area. Until now, Jessica is the first and only girl from our group with a master degree, which is definitely a big accomplishment. Standing out from all of you with only a bachelor degree, I am thrilled and excited to give a speech about my special friend on this memorable day.

Frankly speaking, Jessica left me a pretty bad first impression. It was August 2001. Jessica and her mother walked in in late afternoon. We only said hi and then she sat down and began eating an apple, while her mother started doing all the cleaning and wiping. I told myself: “a spoiled and arrogant princess”. As it turned out, she was not a good roommate, because for most of the time, she was not even in our room. I only saw her several times in classes and all we said was no more than how are you. But it was not hard to find the similar and crazy part from her. She was such a big fan for Roberto Baggio, a famous Italian soccer player and she loved Linkin Park. I am sure all of you had the experience of walking into her room and found her singing with the band crazily.

She was never the traditionally “good student” type. Skipping classes on a regular basis, Jessica managed to graduate with an average GPA of 3.7, which sent her to graduate school. She kept doing an awesome job and I still remember sometime in March last year, Jessica called me one day and said the graduation paper was due next week and she didn’t even start writing yet. I had no idea how she finished that big paper in the end. But, anyway, she graduated with the 22nd place and for your information, there were 22 students in her major in her year.

I am not going to talk about her academic “excellence”, instead, let’s go back to some happy times we shared together. Jessica’s biggest unforgettable anecdote happened during our military training program. As Jessica may be the only one here who doesn’t want to recall, it was the best time for the rest of us all. It was a very hot summer day. She unbuttoned her army coat during the break, not wearing much inside. And unfortunately, she was then asked to give us an example of how to solute. She went to the front, with a firm face like a soldier fighting for our country and held her right arm to her eye brow. It was probably the most embarrassing moment in military training history. But she found her way to go through that “dark” time in her life and is still the happy and cheerful girl as she would always be.

I personally appreciate and thank her for the friendship we have found in each other. Being the only child from my family, deep down I always want someone of my age to talk to and share. I am grateful Jessica is such a friend that would be willing to listen and offer her help. I was most moved when I just started working after graduation. I met my first bottleneck in my career and was having difficulty adjusting to the working environment. She said to me the sentence I would not be able to forget in my whole life: “Don’t say you are the only child from your family. You do have a sister and it is me”.

Jessica now finally will say farewell to her 14 years of school life and start working. As you may know, she got the offer from Axion Pacific Capital as a business analyst. I am sure that with her determined and optimistic personality, she will continue to be successful on her path. Let us all give our best wishes to her career and personal life. Thank you.
